U.S. Secretary of State Robert Lansing's copies, with his bookplate on front endpaper and his ink name on first blank (these were purchased from a family library in Henderson Harbor, NY, near his birthplace in Watertown, which included many other works owned by him). No publisher date (ink date dated 1884). From the Roman Period to the Death of Elizabeth: Hinges starting. Both volumes: Some loss to spine head and spine base, foxed. v, 687 [7]; viii, 738 [6] pp. Two volume set. Brown boards with gilt and black titles on spine. Illustrated with steel portraits. A history of England covering the Roman period, Queen Elizabeth, James I, and Queen Victoria.
