The story of a marriage strained by class difference and the war. The author's second book and follow up to his 1944, MEN LIKE GODS, also a WWII-themed work from the same publisher. MEN LIKE GODS was also issued in an Armed Services Edition paperback. An uncommon wartime production, attractive in jacket. 8'' x 5.5''. Original beigh cloth stamped in orange and red. In original unclipped ($2.50) illustrated dust jacket. 253, [1] pages. Inscribed by Sturgis in year of publication to half title: "To Erma Lester - / who may find in this / book an inspiration to / sleep - / Robert Sturgis / 20 July 45." Jacket with small chip to rear joint. Contents lightly toned. A bit of dustiness to edges of book.
