About This Item
Mechanicsburg, PA: Stackpole Books. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 2001. First Edition. Hardcover. 0811715361 . The author looks at the role that the frontier town of St. Joseph, Missouri played in the Ciivl War. Located at the eastern terminus of the Pony Express, St. Joseph leaned toward support of the South and endured a terrorist attack on the Platte River Railroad Bridge, a mutiny of commissioned US troops known as the Paw Paw Rebellion, as well other impacts on the economy, culture and development. Carefully researched, this book contains an index, source notes and a bibliographical essay in the rear. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The dust jacket is a bit rubbed and there is some wear to the rear panel bar code where an old bookshop sticker appears to have been removed; there are no significant chips or tears. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 209 pages .
