The third edition has been corrected and improved (there’s always a new "hook" to entice potential buyers). There are chapters on fly dressing, fly patterns, dyeing, etc. See Westwood & Satchell, pp. 85-86. "The chapters on fly-making are unusually clear and comprehensible." The book is bound in red calf spine and corners with a gilt title on the spine. Marbled boards and end papers. All edges marbled. The book is clean and bright. Very good. .

Deals with fishing with artificial flies (illustrated with pen-and-ink sketches), baits, etc. A chapter on "Piscatorial Physiology" by Erasmus Wilson in included as a separate chapter. Some wear at the top and bottom of the spine and a small chip out of the edge where the front cover meets the spine. The pages are all there, although they have grown stiff from age (easy to read, no foxing or discoloring). Binding is secure, but the cloth on the spine is parting from the front cover
