Jules Labarte's exploration of the art of the middle ages and renaissance, illustrated throughout with vignettes. In a striking calf binding with extensive decorative blind tooling.This title explores the art and design of ecclesiastical utensils, arms, jewels, furniture and objects of common use to reflect on the artistic talent of the periods he examines.The vignette illustrations present are from Labarte's original work.With an alphabetically arranged account of the artists discusses appearing following the preface. Rebacked, in a full calf binding with back strip laid down and original boards restored. Retaining the original endpapers, with hinges reinforced. Decorative blind tooling to boards, with gilt detailing to spine. Rubbing to board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with only the odd handling mark. Very Good
