The volume contains descriptions of 112 species. Each species is shown in color plates, and maps show breeding and wintering areas. There is a special section of colored plates of eggs at the end of the book. Quarto. Dark blue cloth cover with gilt title to spine. Brown illustrated dust jacket with yellow and white title to front and spine panels. Pages are bright and clean, with minor smudging to top/side edge of text block. Binding is cocked. Dust jacket has rubbing, slight wear at top, a small open tear to front panel, a small closed tear to top of spine panel, and creasing on bottom corner of back panel. 913 pages, including index.
