London: John van Voorst, 1872 First edition. HB. Original blue cloth with gilt title to spine and blind-stamped borders. xxiv (introduction), 198pp, and publisher's list. Yellow endpapers. No illustrations. This copy has the pencil name of the bird artist Martin Woodcock to front free endpaper. A Good copy, clean pages, well-bound, with some foxing to prelims and two leaves at end. Covers have bright gilt but browned spine cloth, light wear to edges and faded areas to lower front and back corners from old stain (pages unaffected).
