First thus. Reminiscences by General D.J. Cook, Superintendant of the Rocky Mountain Detective Association: A condensed criminal history if the Far West. With an introduction by Everett L. DeGolyer, Jr. Originally published in 1882, this account is considered the "outstanding bad-man narrative of the Rocky Mountain West." Over the years, Cook was a farmhand, miner, saloon-keeper, soldier, city marshal of Denver, sheriff of Arapahoe County, U.S. marshal, major general of Colorado Militia, and most importantly founder and chief of the Rocky Mountain Detect ive Association (a semi-secret and unofficial organization of sheriffs, police chiefs and marshalls).
