New York: Worthington Co., 1888. This picaresque novel was one of the most popular written by Samuel Lover (1797-1868), who also was a talented songwriter and artist. First published in America in 1842; this is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a Later Printing, part of the publisher's "Franklin Edition" series. Less common than the First Edition. Bound in red cloth, decoratively stamped in black, Titling on the spine in a gilt label. Clean text;489 pages. Frontis illustration is by the author. Spine lightly faded; mild rub to the margins; light oiling to the rear cover. A sound and very attractive copy.. Later Printing. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. Illus. by Samuel Lover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
