[London]: Boots the Chemist (ca. 1930). 4to, 320pp. Brick red cloth pictorially stamped in black and gilt. 16 tipped-in color plates and numerous b&w illustrations. Lower spine end worn with tiny tears and chips, top of spine and other edges lightly rubbed, spine lightly sunned, light scratching to rear cover, pages slightly aged, first and last leaf a tad foxed. Nonetheless, a clean, tight, generally quite attractive copy.
Boots the Chemist edition (ca. 1930), being a reprint by Hodder and Stoughton for Boots the Chemist of their 1913 edition and containing all of the original 16 color plates. A wonderful edition featuring 17 of Andersen's fairy tales including such classics as "The Snow Queen," "The Little Mermaid," "The Emperor's New Clothes," and "The Ugly Duckling" accompanied by W. Heath Robinson's lush watercolors that combine the magic and humor of these tales.
