The book, which measures approximately 5 ½ x 8 ½ inches, contains 272 pages of Bibliographical and Reference Material plus multiple pages of preliminary material including a table of Contents, a Preface, Acknowledgments, Sources Consulted and an Introduction. Red cloth covered boards, with gilt printing on the spine. It is stated to have been printed on "acid-free 250-year-life paper". There is no dust jacket, as issued. This bibliography attempts a comprehensive listing of works by and about black writers of what has come to be known as the Harlem Renaissance – a period extending from the 1920s to the mid-1930s. In addition to major and minor works of the period, peripheral items are included in order to provide a broad picture of the ambiance of the times. Therefore, news items, miscellaneous information about the social and cultural milieu, editorials, letters to the editor, and material on film and filmstrip are included. In total, the book lists 913 items, most with associated descriptive paragraphs and, in some cases, the author's assessments of the work.

The illustrations accompanying this description show the book's covers, the Title page, and three (3) typical 2-page spreads of text.

About Pages For Sages

Pages For Sages has been in the business of buying and selling rare and used books, ephemera, and other unusual items for over forty years. We have long depended on book fairs, printed catalogs, auctions, and the like to support the business. Now, in our later years (ages 90 and 92) we are taking this step to display a catalog of inventory on the Biblio web site for your consideration. The number of our listings will grow as we continue the process of adding items from our inventory - please come back from time to time to find additional offerings.
