Bookplate of the Swansea Training College to FEP. Foot of title page shaved, very occasional light spotting. The sole edition of a series of lectures by Christian Socialist and theologian Frederick Denison Maurice's (1805-1872) on the contemporary conditions of British education in which he notably argues that the school system ought to remain under the control of the Church rather than power being transferred to the state. . First edition. 8vo.
