[Paris: Contact Publishing Co.,, 1922]. First edition, first impression, one of 300 copies printed. An exceptional copy, preserving the original publisher's tissue sleeve. A Hasty Bunch is McAlmon's first collection of prose, and the first book issued by his publishing house, Contact Editions, a venture which "would influence the course of modern literature" (ANB). The company was a short-lived enterprise, active from 1922 to 1929, but in that time published work by Hemingway (including his first two books, Three Stories and Ten Poems and in our time), Joyce, Stein, Pound, H.D., Djuna Barnes, Mina Loy, and William Carlos Williams. Octavo. Original light brown wrappers, front wrapper lettered in dark brown, top edge trimmed, others uncut, some pages unopened. With original publisher's tissue sleeve (chipped and a little torn). Housed in custom card sleeve with label. With loosely inserted leaf, as issued, "From an h'English Printer to an English Publisher". A fine, unopened copy.
