Green cloth decorated in gilt and black. In the 1860's and 1870's the author had been British chargé d'affaires and then Minister in Haiti. This book caused something of a scandal on first publication with its stories of cannibalism and Voodoo.Some spotting to edges and prelims. A couple of pages roughly opened at fore-edges. Very good indeed. A bright copy.
