About This Item
Winnipeg, MB, Canada: Turnstone Press, 1985. First Thus. Pictorial Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Apparent first edition (not stated); 133 p.; VG/no DJ as published; small dent in front cover, slight edgewear, clean, square, unmarked copy. "BEING A Flin Flon book with crowbars, a novel, a navel, a raven, hammers and shovels, two fish stories (in divers forms), three jokes, a puck, rink rats, four players playing, and Featuring a carnival with guest appearances." Birk Ernest Sproxton was born and raised in Flin Flon and worked as a diamond driller and track-gang labourer; at the time of publication he was a professor of Canadian literature and Creative Writing at Red Deer College. Look for his Flin Flon-based novel, "The Red-Headed Woman with a Black Black Heart" - a good pairing with this earlier book of poetry and short pieces. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
