A collection of five unsettling tales -- Low Men in Yellow Coats, Hearts in Atlantis, Blind Willie, Why We're in Vietnam and Heavenly Shades of Night are Falling -- that center around the Vietnam War and weave together innocence, experience, truth, deceit, loss, and recovery.

The first selection, Low Men in Yellow Coats, is the story of a mysterious man who enlists the aid of eleven-year-old Bobby Garfield to save his life. This friendship with a mysterious stranger forever changes the way he sees the world. This was adapted into the 2001 film Hearts in Atlantis, starring Anthony Hopkins and Anton Yelchin.

Synopsis

Hearts in Atlantis (1999) is a collection of two novellas and three short stories by Stephen King, all connected to one another by recurring characters and taking place in roughly chronological order. The stories are subtle conveyances of the Baby Boomer generation, specifically King's view that this generation (to which he self-consciously belongs) failed to live up to their promise and ideals.
