American activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of Keller and her teacher, Anne Sullivan, was made famous by Keller's autobiography, The Story of My Life,In 1904, at the age of 24, Keller graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa[21] from Radcliffe, becoming the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Very rare early ALS in pencil, one page both sides, 5.25 x 3.5, Denver's The Brown Palace Hotel letterhead, February 14, 1914. Helen Keller writes in her hand to Miss Hortop: '' It was lovely of you to think those sweet flower thoughts and send them to my teacher and me by such eloquent messengers. I'm sure you are as sweet as your flowers. We both thank you and wish you all success." Most of Keller's autograph material are typed, it is rare to find a note entirely in her hand. In fine condition.
