[Hellenistic Pottery from Naxos Island]

The archaeological survey at Chora, Naxos, during the last 30 years has brought to light important remains of the hellenistic city, mainly in the area stretching north of the medieval castle. In Grotta, the area on the north coast of the village, which had been partially excavated, the so-called Square Lodge was found. It dates to the early hellenistic era and coincides with the hellenistic market, the center of economic and political life of the city, and immediately east of the "Square Lodge" have also been found remains of buildings of the early hellenistic period, and two well-built wells of the late classical era. The plot Zafiropoulos approximately 30 m southwest of the land Vases and 40 meters southeast of the "Square Lodge" building excavated relics of early and late hellenistic era.
