A Paul Shaw Mystery. 8.25"x5.5", 266 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. They were young, immortal, going to conquer a glittering New York for their private dreams - Maureen, Pete, Rick, the fanatic Max Alfreda (madman, genius, or perhaps both), Judith Tower and Paul Shaw. Everything was possible, and Paul Shaw and Judy Tower were in love. Ten years later a telephone call in the small hours of a New York night brings past, present and future together - Judy Tower has vanished, and Paul Shaw must search the labyrinth of past and present to uncover what happened to Judy and the private dreams they all shared ten years ago. Paul Shaw, a man who settled for what he could do - a partner in the slick, modern detective business of Thayer, Shaw and Delany, which lives on the well-paying troubles of the rich. A trail that begins in the single question of whether a man ever completely loses his first love leads Paul Shaw through the grasping world of Hollywood, the maelstrom of cults and the search for religion, the violent tensions of modern universities, to the revolutionists of the slums and the Black Panther Party. To men of today: John Morgan, Black Panther leader - hero or deadly demagogue? David Eigen, S.D.S. chief - political genius or private cheat? Scott Keating - benevolent businessman or secret power? Here to Die is a novel of private violence among young and old, drawn inexorably into the public violence of America today.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
