About This Item
London: Headline, 1989. First. Hard Cover. Fine/fine. True (U.K.) first edition of the 16th chronicle of Brother Cadfael, medieval monk and sleuth. A fine, fresh copy in fine, bright, crisp dust jacket (the "for export" variant with a blank rectangle lower corner rear panel and the ISBN number on the lower corner of the rear flap instead and no price on the front flap (NOT, however, a bce). In this entry, it is summer A.D. 1143 and pilgrim has returned in a coffin; his young friend is accused of heresy. A violent seath occurs and Cadfael must investigate. Peter's historical mysteries are the gold standard by which all others in the genre are measured. Basis for the wonderful PBS "Mystery" series featuring Sir Derek Jacobi in the title role.
