About This Item
Calgary: Red Deer Press, 2004. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. This is a first printing of the first edition, with a complete number line, and looks new. The interior is crisp and clean. The author has signed his name and date (2004) on the title page, but there are no other marks or wear. The illustrated covers are fresh, again with no wear. The dust jacket is not clipped, and looks new. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. This is a magnificent picture book re-telling of an old Cree story, with full colour illustrations on each page. Synopsis:: "As the Cree people watch summer drift into autumn, they hunt all over the prairie for the great buffalo herds that will provide food for the coming winter. But they can find none, and the people are growing desperate with hunger, Sky Running is a boy who wants to help his people, but he cannot see or hear the buffalo ... One night, he has a vision that reveals to him where the great herds are -- in the badlands to the south, the territory of his tribe's fiercest rivals. The tribe must decide whether to follow a young boy's vision and risk venturing into enemy territory, or worse, stay and risk the harsh winter without sufficient food.
