A rare example of one of the "Sensation Novels" of Victorian literature, this story is "virtually a guidebook to the problems of a woman who takes up rescue work". Grey cloth boards are uniformly faded, page block is clean, tight and unmarked, with light foxing. SCARCE.. First American Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
