The film was written and directed by Terrence Malick and stars August Diehl, Valerie Pachner, Maria Simon, and Ulrich Matthes. Based on real events, A Hidden Life tells the story of Austrian Franz Jagerstatter (Diehl), a conscientious objector, who refuses to fight for the Nazis in World War II.
