J.C. Derby, New York, 1855. Acceptable. First ed., ; 434 p., clean and unmarked except for penciled name of former owner and 1855 date with odd scribblings on front end page and a book plate on front paste down showing this 'volume to be part of an inheritance. in 1910. Binding firm, but cracked between pages 170-171, 216 and 217, and 238 and 239, with pages detaching from sewn signatures. green cloth boards very faded, scuffed, bumps and abradedat spine. Gilt lettering on spine faded. Paper strong and only mildly age-toned, but foxed. This wonderful volume begs for rebinding, which would greatly increase its value.
