About This Item
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1955. A first edition, first printing published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1955. A near fine book, with one neat name and date to the front pastedown. Some slight bumping to the head and base of the spine. Offsetting to the front and rear end papers. In a very good, clipped wrapper showing some internal repair to the spine and some light chipping to the corners with a few light stains to the front panel. Surprisingly rare in nice condition. This gripping autobiography traverses Hillary's adventures, from scaling peaks in New Zealand to the historic 1953 Everest ascent alongside Tenzing Norgay. He shares the triumphs, challenges, and the spirit of exploration that defined his extraordinary life. "High Adventure" not only chronicles the conquest of Everest but also reflects Hillary's passion for exploration, making it a timeless narrative of courage and perseverance. This riveting account captures the essence of high-altitude challenges, encapsulating Hillary's legacy as a pioneering adventurer in the world of mountaineering.
