About This Item

London: John Murray, 1966. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 7.5" by 4.5". Not Stated. A first edition copy of this collection of poetry from the beloved Poet Laureate John Betjeman, in the original dust wrapper. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Sir John Betjeman (1906-1984) was a writer and broadcaster, and was Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death. This is his first published collection of poetry after his extremely successful 'Collected Poems', with poems concerning 'Landscapes', 'Portraits', 'Light and Dark', and 'Personal' subjects. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is mostly bright and smart, except for sunning to the spine and two small closed tears to the front of the wrap. Fine
