Dominique Bouhours was a 17th-century Jesuit historian and author known for his treatises on the French language, secrets, and curious humor. He also published a historical account of the life of Pierre d'Aubusson, a 15th-century Hospitaller zealot who radically opposed the Ottomans. Bouhours account is largely considered imaginative since little is known of d'Aubusson's early years; still, though, this work is a fascinating and important look into Knight Hospitaller crusades against the Ottoman Turks in the 1400s. The most important aspect of this book is the overview of the Siege of Rhodes at the gulf of Trianda, whose defense was led by d'Aubusson.
