Printer's device on title page. Front cover separating, but holding. Bottom corner of title page torn away, indecipherable owner name in contemporary script top of title page. Internals quite nice. Francesco Sansovino (1521-1586) was an Italian scholar and humanist, sometimes known as Giovanni Tatti. Born in Rome, son of the sculptor Jacopo Sansovino, he studied law at the universities of Padua and Bologna and then lived in Venice. Besides nearly a dozen historical works, he was a literary critic of Dante and Boccacio.
