London: Fisher, Son, & Co., 1840. Leather. Good. 11.5" by 8.5". Various. Two volumes of biblical illustrations by old masters An uncommon work comprised of a series of biblical illustrations by old masters such as Rembrandt, de Poussin, and Da Vinci. With 30 plates to each volume, except volume IV which has 33, collated and complete. However, in volume II, the plate called for at page 78 is at page 73, and the plate called for at page 80 is at page 76. Working chronologically through the bible, each engraving is presented with a biblical passage printed English, French, and German. In black leather binding with gilt. Externally, sound. A little rubbed to the boards with some minor scuffs to the leather to the rear board of both volumes. Lightly rubbed to the spine, with a scuff to the spine of the second volume. The front hinge is very tender to volume II, and the front endpaper is disbound but present. Pages lightly age-toned but generally clean throughout. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
