"Many of the territorial records prior to 1843 were destroyed in that year during a local rebellion in the capital of La Paz. Rojo, a journalist and lawyer, was requested to compile historical notes on Baja California. Though documentary evidence was scarce he was able to consult people who had personal knowledge of past events and from them he gathered a great deal of source material about a terra incognita in Baja California history." Translated and edited by Philip O. Gericke. Volume 26 in the Baja California Travels Series. Octavo: 172 p. with 7 illustrations, including 4 drawings by Henry Chapman Ford. Original dark gray cloth binding, with gilt titles. Issued without a dust jacket. Near fine.
