Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1902. Half Leather. Very Good binding. The monumental collection of Fiske's writings, covering the history of the United States from 1600 through the Confederation in 1789. Volumes 1-3 comprise "The Discovery of America"; Volume s 4-5 "Old Virginia and Her Neighbors; Volume 6 "The Beginning of New England"; Volume 7-8 "The Dutch and Quaker Colonies"; Volume 9 "New France and New England"; Volume 10-11 "The American Revolution"; and Volume 12 "The Critical Period in American History, 1783-1789". The 12 volumes in brown half-morocco over marbled boards, with top edges gilt and lettering and decorations to the spines in gilt; illustrated with plates, maps, plans, portraits, a nd facsimiles. Considered the best edition of Fiske. An attractive set, with a small chip to the top of the spine in one volume. Very Good binding.
