About This Item

London; (1894): Samson, Low, Marston & Co. First Edition. Octavo. xvii, 568 pages, many textual illustrations, folding map. errata slip bound in. The author became the collector of customs and internal revenue for the North West Territories in 1869 and becoming the special commissioner for the settlement of crofter fishermen on Vancouver Island. After completing this work, he founded the Mining Record. The large map is especially nice. Bound in 3/4 blue-green morocco over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers, raised bands, compartments decorated in gilt, fading to spine and lettering, nice owner's bookplate, two bumped corners, some light rubbing. A very good copy.
