The very scarce second edition of this work, which was first published in 1797.Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, folding map, and nine plates. Collated, lacking one engraved plate.ESTC Citation No. T136921A fascinating study of eighteenth century Glasgow and its suburbs, utilising public records and contemporary accounts, and providing also a description of Loch Lomond, and the falls of the Clyde.Author James Denholm intended his work to be 'for the use of strangers', and to provide an informative introduction to the region for those unacquainted with it. Rebound in half calf with marbled paper covered boards, and endpapers renewed. Fading to spine, otherwise externally fine. Internally, firmly bound. First and last few leaves significantly age toned, with further discolouration throughout. Foxing to frontispiece and plates, with further instances of spotting throughout. Very Good
