London: J & F Tallis. Decorative Cloth. Good+. Undated Edition, Late 19th C. 12 Divisions, from the Ancient Britons to 1790 (George III). Original Red Cloth covers with embossed decoration and gilt Battle Standards to front and back. Gilt arms, standards, wreath and lettering to spines. Each Volume has 12 Engraved Plates, protected by Tissue Guards. Frontis of Vol 1 is an Engraving of Queen Victoria in her wedding dress. Illustrated Title Page to Vol 1 depicts the death of William Rufus, engraved by J. Rogers. Text pages in very nice, clean condition. Only a little marginal foxing to Plates. Binding of a few volumes is a little fragile, a few plates a little loose, most are tight. Some edgewear to covers, mostly at spine ends and corners. Some spine ends have small tears. Attractive set.
