Amsterdam; Brussels; London; New York: Elsevier. Good with no dust jacket. 1945. First Edition. Hardcover. Kb57...302, [i] pp. Folding colored map at front and rear. Occasional b/w maps & illustrations. Quarto, in deep green cloth with dull gilt to front cover and spine. Small wear to the covers, bottom corners slightly toed in, some shelf soil on the edges. Another paper clip at page 221 which has rusted slightly marking the adjoining pages (we have not removed this, fearing to damage the page) . Rear gutter at page 302 is just starting to show some stress, otherwise clean and intact. A remarkably well-preserved copy of this important regimental history, with wonderful provenance. "... The first history of a ground unit of the Canadian forces in the recent war. The 15th Regiment wasmobilized in the west in thefirst half of 1941; spent a year in the Maritime Provinces and proceeded to England in August,1942. Here it took training in many places until the end of July,1944, when it began active service in Normandy. It shared in the operations about Caen and Falaise, the pursuit through France and Belgium, the clearing of the Schelde estuary and the Hochwald, and in the crossing of the Rhine; and after another march through eastern Holland, did its last work in the neighbourhood of Oldenburg, Germany. Captain Spencer had the aid of a group of comrades with the text, scale maps, sketches, and photos and has produced a book of good quality with excellent features." (W. B. Kerr, The Canadian Historical Review, 1946); 4to 11" - 13" tall; 303 pages .
