First English-language edition (scarce). 422pp, full brown leather, now somewhat darkened; title in gilt on darker brown panel, with outlines in gilt; 4 raised bands. Marbled endpapers, page block marbled 3 edges; small bookplate (Sir John William Lubbock) on the fep. Light wear to the extremities of the covers, otherwise a tight, clean copy..
