Bound in publisher's burgundy cloth, gilt lettering to spine and front board; top edge stained gilt. Plain white endpapers. Xviii pp prelim material, 605 numbered pp, plus one blank; in addition: five unpaginated pp maps, 10 unpaginated pp plates. Editor's intro, lists of illus/maps; 15 chaps (from "After the War" [1865] to "A Chronicle of Recent Events" [through 1925]; appendix (with 19 entries), index. Notes and maps passim. Condition notes: A fine, unmarked copy of the 1926 edition (dated to both title page and copyright page) with the following flaws: lacks dj, likely issued without; moderate wear to boards, spine ends rolled, corners bumped, sunning to spine; interior tanned but clean/unmarked. Binding solid. An inch of the tail fore-corner of textblock stained; pp 571-580 show small tears - see photo. Also included as a bonus are two small ephemeral items that accompanied the original distribution: A "Notice" from MHS Superintendent Solon J. Buck instructing "if your friend or neighbor would like a copy of this book..." to fill out the "accompanying application blank", and (a slightly tattered copy of) the blank itself, dated 1927. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
