Folding panorama of New Amsterdam follows the preface in Vol I. In tan cloth slip case.
One of 2,000 published, first edition first printing. In Riviere Binding. From the library of Harold Murdock (1862-1934), a Boston banker, bibliophile, book collector, student of the American revolution and later the Director of Harvard University Press. (per morocco bookplate "Omnia Pro Bono H.M."). Subsequently, from the library of Virginia bibliophile and historian Christopher Clark Geest, per the bookplate on the fly page.
First Irving literary work, a satirical history of New York. Included on the Grolier Club list of 100 books famous in English literature.
Condition: Very good condition as shown in photographs. All original, all complete. Boards secure. Gilt bright. 4-3.8"x 6-7/8.
