First Edition, 1st Printing; full brown leather; rear boards of volume 1 are detached; some wear at corner tips; ownr's names and plate; Stedman's History is generally considered the best contemporary account of the American Revolution written from the British side. As some authorities give William Thomson as the author of the work, the following notes may be of interest: The author was apparently the American loyalist, who was born in Philadelphia, served as Commissary of Prisoners under Howe, etc., was retired as colonel on half-pay, was appointed to examine the claims of American loyalists, and died when deputy-comptroller of the Stamp-office in June, 1812. no maps in this edition. 1st. Leatherbound. Collectible Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo.
