The 1852 edition of Jacob Abbott's The History of Romulus, part of the Abbott's Histories series. Red cloth, blindstamped on both front and back. Gilt on spine. Famed full-color frontispiece is intact, as is tipped-in protective tissue. All eighteen B&W engravings are intact (five of them plates), including frontispiece.
Spine is discolored and darker than rest of jacket, with significant wear on top. Cracking on both top hinges and fraying near bottom hinge. Bumping and fraying on corners. Pages are age tanned and have small stains. Endpapers are stained and have small writing. Cracking at 98-99.
