Hardcover bound in original blue publisher's cloth with spine titles in gilt and cover designs in blind. The binding is worn and bumped and has some fraying and tearing at the spine ends. A couple of nicks on the spine are touched up with blue. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Appears to have two identical facsimile title pages tipped in (consequently lacking the original title; the frontis is NOT in facsimile). The text has some moderate foxing throughout. An early owner's blind stamped name is on the first page of the text. There is a folding newspaper article pasted onto the rear pastedown. The binding is rubbed and bumped but sound. Hinges are just a little rubbed but sound and secure. Complete with flyleaves; no owner's inscriptions. Some spotting to the endpapers. The text is toned. A decent copy.

London: Methuen & Co., 1904. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo. 272, 40 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in green cloth with titles in gilt. Moderate wear to the binding. The front and rear covers have pale spotting, and the spine is toned. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Top edge gilt. Endpapers foxed. Text is toned but generally clean with a bit of foxing near the photographic plates. Complete with the folding map at the rear. The map has some brief tears at the edges of the folds. Quite scarce.

The binding is worn and is soiled from handling. Spine is browned. Inner hinges secure. Some foxing and staining to the endpapers. Early owner's signature on the front flyleaf. Contains a frontis and no other illustrations. Text is browned but sound.

Scarce Limited Edition (#127 / 150 Copies) SIGNED by the author and by both artists. Hardcover in bluish-green cloth with cover designs in dark blue and lettering in gilt. The binding is rubbed and bumped. The spine is toned and has some scuff marks; the spine ends are a bit chipped. An attractive bookplate on front pastedown reads "Leonard James Shrubsall." Endpapers are foxed. There is a pencilled notation on the rear flyleaf. Text is toned, has foxing throughout.

Cincinnati: Published for Subscribers / Whetstone & Buxton, Printers, 1829. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. 610 pages. Hardcover bound in original full leather. The binding is quite worn but holding. Front hinge is heavily rubbed and is starting. The spine is slightly curved inward. Marbled endpapers. Front flyleaf a little loosened. Outside edges of the text block show heavy wear. The text is foxed but the text block is sound. Illustrated with 6 engraved plates, including a folding frontis plate (HALF OF THE FOLDING FRONTIS IS MISSING). This book was reprinted throughout several years, and most copies appear to have some plates missing or no plates at all. We have not seen any copies with more than 6 plates, but some later printings appear to have some plates (Alexander Hamilton and Nathaneal Greene) which do not appear in this edition. No author is given on the title page, but this work is attributed to Amos Blanchard.

London: George Newnes, Ltd., 1921. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Elephant Folio - over 15 - 23" tall. Elephant folios. 338; 395 pages, indexed. TWO VOLUMES. They both are listed as VOLUME I but each covers two different periods in English history (period one and period two). Hardcovers quarter bound in dark blue cloth with light blue cloth covered boards. Bindings are spotted, have scuffing, light foxing. The period one book has a gouge to the fore-edge of the rear board. The period two book has a dark stain mark at the top of the front board. All edges of text blocks are gilt. The gilt is dulled, Marbled endpapers. Text has light toning. Some pages are smudged. Photographs throughout.

Norwalk, Connecticut: Easton Press, 2008. Leather Bound. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. 280 pages. Hardcover bound in full brown leather with gilt embossing. All edges gilt. There is light wear to the binding, however the text block is slightly uneven with a break in the center (near the photographs), possibly from pressure exerted on the spine. Contains a gold ribbon bookmark. Silk moire send papers. The text is clean and sound. Illustrated with color photographs in the center.

Hardcover bound in brown and black cloth. The binding shows some wear and rubbing about the edges. Binding is sound with secure inner hinges; spine is sunned. Text is a little toned but is generally clean. Contains a couple of illustrations. We don't know if this would qualify as a Homeopathic work, but the publisher Boericke & Tafel largely published books of Homeopathy and alternative medicines

Italy: N.p., 1873. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Oblong Quarto measuring just about 9 inches long by 6 1/2 inches tall. The binding is a white hardcover made to look like vellum (but is likely treated paper-covered boards) and has cover designs and lettering embossed in gilt. All edges red. Some of the thick pages are a bit wavy about the edges. The binding is soiled and bumped but is sound. There is some cracking to the front and rear hinges near the headcap. The front cover is stamped "ROMA" There is not date in the volume, but the images appear to be late 19th century. Image #46 is dated (printed along with the image in the margin) 1873. Although the front cover states "Roma", the images appear to be mostly from Pisa, Naples and Pompeii and contains some scenery as well as a number of images of art from museums.
