Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound set, complete in three volumes, bound in Imperial octavo hardcover format, big, massive, heavy, specifically bright and clean of interiors, minimal rubbing to extremities. Bright and shiny dust jackets, illustrated, little worn but for crease to front inner flap of the third volume. From the publisher's blurb of Volume Three (1999), "This final work in Martin Gilbert's magisterial and critically acclaimed three-volume history of the century describes the dramatic events of the last fifty years with the same detail and richness to which his readers are accustomed." Volumes contain scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography.
