The text is illustrated with copious black-and-white illustrations and the occasional photograph. Yellow coloured boards with black coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. First published in 1951, this is a updated and revised edition. Ranging from the mediaeval period through to 1950, this is a potted history of undergarments. How undergarments, for both men and women, and changed over the years and centuries. Softening to the backstrip edges with rubbing of the book corners. Faint foxing to the textblock edges and to the endpapers. Previous owner's name to the top edge of the free front end paper. A little creasing to the dustwrapper edges with rubbing of the panels. Saving to the backstrip and to the top edge of the front panel. A small mark to the lower edge of the backstrip.
