This is a publication of material deposited in the Archives of the Folklore Center of the Athens Academy, recording traditional textile material from the island of Skyros; more specifically it is about weaving specific designs. These are complemented with documents from the local archives, bibliographical references on issues related to weaving and rich photographic documentation. Moreover, the volume is also enriched with information about the types of yarns and their processing and dyeing; and it is accompanied by a concise but useful local textile glossary. This book, focusing on Skyros, attempts to contribute to the synthesis of a bigger picture of the traditional loom and weaving art in general. It is written in modern Greek but the rich illustration makes it useful for the non-speaking Greek reading audience.
