About This Item

Undated, presumably 1966. A fifteen line poem in pencil, with erasures, “...To Rex a long good life, and peace within.” Inscribed, partially in ink at the top of the page, “To Rex Stout - on his 80th birthday (I think) (maybe 75th) By Mark Van Doren.” Creased from folding but in excellent condition. Van Doren was a Pulitzer Prize winning poet and a longtime, influential Columbia professor.
