Black Full Leather, Brass Bound Bible with 2 working Brass Clasps. 5 Raised Bands to spine, Gilt Title in 2nd Compartment and Gilt Decoration in the others. Blind stamped and Gilt Decoration to front, & rear, some in Grecian style. All page edges Gilt. Frontispiece Illustrated with Roman ruins "Pagan Rome". Coloured Title Page headed "The National Illustrated Family Bible", followed by a Printed Title Page dated 1867. Dr Eadie's Preface is followed with Coloured Maps of the World and the Middle East. Illustrated throughout with many engraved Plates and Coloured Maps. showing Natural History, Scenes from the Holy Land, Biblical Scenes, Coins etc. After the Old Testament and the New Testament come a Chronological Index; Names; Weights & Measures and a Concise Biblical Cyclopaedia: a Dictionary of Sacred Biography, Natural History, Ancient Geography, Eastern Antiquities and Theology. 13 3/4" Tall. Some wear to leather (see photo), mainly around spine whichj has a tiny piece of leather missing from top corner. Front hinge cracked and reinforced with cloth hinge tape. Coloured title page loose. No inscriptions. Pages and Plates in very good, clean condition. Heavy Volume, weighs over 5 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
