Contemporary Black Full Leather Binding with 5 Raised Bands to spine, Gilt Title on dark red ground in 2nd Compartment and Gilt Decoration in the others. Blind stamped and Gilt Decoration to front & rear. All page edges Gilt. Gilt Decorative borders to inner cover. Frontispiece Illustrated with Roman ruins "Pagan Rome", protected by tissue guard. Title Page Printed in Red & Black, dated 1867. Dr Eadie's Preface, xv pages, is followed by Coloured Maps of the World and the Middle East. Text arranged in Double Columns, with copious Footnotes and References in Inner Margins. Beautifully Illustrated throughout with many Full-Page Plates Plates and Coloured Maps. showing Natural History, Scenes from the Holy Land, Biblical Scenes, Coins etc. The New Testament has it's own Title Page. After the Old Testament and the New Testament come a Chronological Index; 13" Tall, 5 Kilos. Some edge wear to leather and a few small scrapes (see photo). Splits to leather all down right side of spine and halfway down left side, Hinges cracked and reinforced with hinge tape. No inscriptions. A little light marginal foxing to plates and some pages.
