New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1958. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "For Eleanor and Robert Rein from William Humphrey, February 4, 1958". Copyright page and dedication page with some offsetting from a clipping formerly laid in, otherwise very good in lightly dust jacket with a few tiny chips with a short closed tear. The basis of the acclaimed 1960 Vincente Minnelli directed film starring Robert Mitchum, Eleanor Parker, George Peppard, George Hamilton, and Everett Sloane.
