First Edition, one of 62 on Madagascar, from a total regular issue of 3892. 8vo; handsomely bound in 3/4 green morocco and marbled pastepaper boards, spine with gilt lettering, marbled endpapers, t.e.g., original green printed wrappers and backstrip bound in, lightly foxed throughout, else very good. This volume is the fifth in the series "Les Cahiers verts" published under the direction of Daniel Halevy. Like Chamson's other works, it is a study of life in the Cevennes with all the attendant austerities and Protestant traditions.
