First edition, first state, with 'stirling" misspelled 'sterling" on front cover and spine. 417, [1], [2, ads] pp. 1 vols. 8vo. PUBLICATION DAY PRESENTATION. A novel of New York local and state politics, seen from both the bottom and the top. Ford, born in Brooklyn, devoted most of his life to history and bibliography. He died when only thirty-seven, after having been shot by his own brother
